Edge devices connect data sources and stream their data into the ENLYZE Platform.
An edge device is the hardware provided by ENLYZE that connects your data sources and streams their data into the ENLYZE Manufacturing Data Platform. It is integrated into the network infrastructure at your site.
The edge device connects two networks:
On one side it is connected to the OT network or directly to the data source.
On the other side it is connected to a network with internet access, over which it streams the data to the Manufacturing Data Platform.
These two networks are separated from each other. As a result, your controllers, data sources, and machines are not directly exposed to the internet.
The edge device runs the ENLYZE software including the connectors that establish the connection to the data sources. ENLYZE continuously applies security updates and ensures the devices are operated securely. You can learn more under Security.
Formerly known as "SPARK". In the platform and throughout this documentation, the device is consistently called the Edge Device.
In the edge devices overview you see all edge devices with their site, their connection status (online, offline, or unknown), the time they were last seen, and the number of connected data sources. The detail view shows an edge device's configuration and the data sources connected through it.

This makes it easy to tell whether an edge device is reachable and which data sources are affected if a connection drops.
Edge devices cannot be created from the app, as they are hardware. If you need additional edge devices, get in touch with ENLYZE.
An edge device belongs to exactly one site.
An edge device connects one or more data sources.
How many edge devices you need and which integration scenarios are possible (including their pros and cons) is explained under Integration scenarios. How to prepare, install, and connect an edge device to the platform is explained in the Edge Device section under Connect.
