To fill your Grafana platform with life, we will show you how to create a dashboard and add the first visualizations (also known as panels).
Log in to Platform Grafana on the login page and go to the homepage.
Click on the +-symbol at the top right and select New dashboard to go to the dashboard editor or manage dashboards under Home
> Dashboards
. Dashboards as well as directories can also be created there.
Click on Add visualization to access the panel editor.
Platform Grafana already offers up to 20 visualization types ranging from classic bar, line and scatter charts to pie charts, status displays and dial gauge diagrams.
For a detailed description of all visualization types, we recommend the official Grafana documentation:
The panel editor consists of the following areas:
Header: Here you can discard changes since opening the editor, save them or apply them , i.e. test them in the dashboard editor and save them later if necessary.
Panel preview: Preview of the selected visualization
Select Actual instead of Fill to check the actual panel size in the final dashboard
Select Table view to display the data from the visualization in tabular form. This is helpful if you want to correct errors in a data query.
Data query: Below the preview panel you will find all the controls for creating a data query. In the Query tab, you can define the data source and then write queries in the respective syntax for this data source.
For the ENLYZE data source, select your desired production location, the machine name and the variable(s) for your visualization from the drop-down menus.
The drop-down menu for the variable name only opens after selecting a location and machine name.
Display options: In the right-hand column of the editor, you will find a range of display options that vary depending on the type of visualization. However, each panel has a field for a title and a description, which appears as an annotation window on the panel.
